Company Overview
Reno Court Sports is a new concept in the sports club industry. Each facility is entirely automated and designed to be run with a skeleton staff. Access to the building, courts, even the locker room is entirely automated and the facility knows where everyone is at all times. Reno Court Sports hopes to use its flagship facility in Reno, Nevada as the proving ground for the concept and then roll out the solution nationwide.
Business Challenge
Breaking ground and doing something that has never been done before is both exciting and scary. Reno Court Sports knew in theory what it wanted to do, but had little idea it was technically possible. They contacted X3 to build out a prototype system that could be used to demonstrate the concept to potential investors.
Among some of the requirements - touch screen kiosks at every facility entrance and locker room, touch screen enabled smart terminals at every court to track court time, report scores, reserve courts, and pay for usage, and a customer facing internet portal to provide typical health club member benefits online.
X3 Solution
The first step was to find out if the parts to this solution were even available. X3 completed due diligence research to find the best hardware components for access control and touch screen kiosks. Next, we programmed the components to work together in one seamless environment using a mock up facility for our test prototype. Lastly, we designed and developed a portal based framework (one portal per facility) to allow members to due simple tasks such as pay for membership, reserve court time, view real time images of the courts, and much more.
Results
The prototype system met with rave reviews. Investors were clearly impressed with how the different technology pieces could come together to deliver a comprehensive solution to automate a health club facility. Using our prototype to secure funding, Reno Court Sports broke ground in late 2009.
